For that basic all important relationship and control
we ideally need to have to enjoy being out and about
with our dogs we now run 2 alternative styles of
training classes for the beginner and intermediate
level of obedience training.
11 week block courses which
run 1 hour once a week, for which there are a variety
of schedules to select from.
OR
2 day intensive courses running
9 – 5 and 9 - 4 consecutively, scheduled intermittently
including both weekends and weekdays.

are structured to be safe, for you to have
fun and to provide sound education. There
are no more than 12 dogs at a time in a class,
less in some locations, and the group remains
the same for the duration of the course. This
allows dogs and owners to settle without unnecessary
interruption and make good progress.
The teaching method is designed
from the point of view of the dog. By understanding
their communication system we can bridge the
gap between their language and our language
by a wonderful step-by-step process, which
allows both dogs and trainers to enjoy working
together and to succeed. We support this process
with the use of reward-based training in a
variety of forms. |

We help you teach your dogs the all important commands
you need in and out of the home, commands that can
save your dog’s life, exercises that strengthen
the bond between you and prepare you for the unexpected.
Whenever possible we favour working outside. At
this time the evening 11 week courses are indoors
when it is dark. Adverse weather conditions will
also see us go indoors.
Beginners courses are predominantly focused on
pet dog needs including walking nicely on lead,
recalling, stay control and preventing or stopping
common behaviour issues such as play biting and
jumping up.
Intermediate courses continue supporting this
work as the dogs continue through their developmental
stages. They are also designed to give you a taster
of fun and different things you can do with your
dogs.
In both levels you are also introduced to the
more formal obedience training. Personal hopes and
goals are taken note of and worked towards. We will
take you as far as you want to go with general obedience
training. You can work towards your Kennel Club
Good Citizens’ Medal Tests, go through our
certificates of achievements, move on to agility
or if you become interested in other sports you
may find we know where to send you.
We do advise that there is only one training handler
per dog, this reduces potential confusion whilst
they learn new exercises. We require anybody under
the age of 16 to be accompanied by an adult on these
courses and the handlers to be 16 or older except
for special circumstances.
Private Tuition
Altogether Animals offer private dog training tuition
for those who are unable to attend classes due to
busy lives, for those who feel more at ease in a
private environment, for those who have multi dog
households or for people that have succeeded in
combating behavioural issues and wish to achieve
more. Private tuition is also used when puppies
or dogs are unable to be in a public environment
due to health issues.
