Over the centuries we have bred dogs to work
with us in all sorts of capacities; herding, tracking,
guarding, hunting etc. The Kennel Club divided
the registered breeds into seven categories which
reflect the background and purpose of the dogs.
The natural instincts of our different breeds
vary greatly and it is important that we understand
the breeding and history of our pet dog and train
them in ways that both suit the dog and benefits
you, the owner.
To this purpose we are gradually creating breed
specific classes, where the needs of your dog
can be met more easily.
Dogs have to be 18
months old or over to attend a breed specific
class.
Prior to this age it is important
that our dogs receive a broad amount of exposure
to the world around them. They need to receive the
basic training which allows you to enjoy your dogs
out in public and any exposure they have amongst
other dogs needs to be varied. It is preferable
that they see all different sized dogs and breeds
to start with.
Once they have achieved this we
can dive in and enjoy working with them in these
more specialised classes.
Maximum number in a class is 6
and the dogs have to be 18 months or over. Courses
are 8 weeks in length, 1 hour once a week breaking
down to approximately £15 an hour.
Please keep checking in, we will
gradually be developing more and more breed specific
classes.
